Smart Classroom Project Won Outstanding Case at WIC
On the afternoon of November 7th, 2023, the Release and Presentation of Outstanding Cases of Jointly Building a Community with a Shared Future in Cyberspace was held in Wuzhen, Zhejiang. After multiple rounds of evaluation, UNESCO-ICHEI Smart Classroom Project stood out from over 200 cases and was selected as one of the 13 outstanding cases. Mr. Tang Xiangzheng, Chief Technical Officer of Smart Classroom Project, attended the meeting and delivered a speech.
As a major event of the World Internet Conference (WIC) Wuzhen Summit, the annual collection of Practice Cases of Jointly Building a Community with a Shared Future in Cyberspace was organized by WIC since 2021, which has received widespread participation from various stakeholders. Zhuang Rongwen, Director of Cyberspace Administration of China and Chairman of the World Internet Conference; Francis Gurry, Vice Chairman of the World Internet Conference; Wang Song, Deputy Director of Cyberspace Administration of China; Ren Xianliang, Secretary General of the World Internet Conference, and Ke Jixin, Vice Governor of the People's Government of Zhejiang Province, attended the event and presented commemorative trophies and certificates.
Mr. Tang Xiangzheng delivered a keynote speech at the conference titled "Smart Classroom - Ally Industrial and Educational Endeavor to Forge a Cyberspace Learning Community". He pointed out that digital infrastructure is the key to bridging the digital divide. UNESCO-ICHEI, together with leading educational technology enterprises and developing countries along the Belt and Roads, launched the Smart Classroom Project.
Since 2017, UNESCO-ICHEI has been working with WEDON, Createview, Seewo, and OS-easy, with professional support from the Southern University of Science and Technology, has planned 40 smart classrooms in Asia and Africa, 12 of which are fully equipped and in daily use.
Now, UNESCO-ICHEI is further collaborating with enterprises such as Kingsoft and Kmax to keep exploring the application and continuous innovation of advanced technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Extended Reality (XR) in Smart Classrooms. UNESCO pointed out in The Futures of Education report that digital technologies can do so much more to empower and connect people. Smart Classrooms will open up infinite possibilities for the future of education.
